It is with great sadness that New College learns of the death of Mr Tung Chee-hwa. Mr Tung’s public life coincided with a consequential period in Hong Kong’s development. His sustained interest in education, research and innovation reflected a conviction that universities have responsibilities extending beyond their campuses: to cultivate ability, to advance knowledge, and to contribute to the wider community.
